2000 Quinta do Noval Nacional vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, very clear and attactive colour; 95% opaque. More subdued on the nose than either the Silval 2000 or Noval 2000; showing a combiantion of blackcurrants, lavender and thyme. Very fresh. Soft textured entry, with light and subdued fruit hidden by dominating acidity and strong tannins. The aftertaste is of pine resin and dark chocolate and lasts for minutes. This port is still unbalanced and closed, needing many more years to develop. 93+/100. Drunk 13 October 2011.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
