Bottled after four years according to the blurb. Dense black robe with magenta tints. Wild dark savoury nose. Fleshy slightly forward palate of mulberries and anise. Tannins fine and build on the finish. A little heat afterwards but otherwise a rather excellent LBV. Settles over two days and the heat is now integrated. Reminds me a little of the 2004 Quinta do Noval LBV.

I also had this on New Year's Eve, and was very pleasantly suprised.

It followed a rather good Fonseca 83 that was emptied well before midnight - a friend then brought this bottle out and if i am honest i didn't hold out much hope that it would be particularly good.

To my surprise that it was really rather tasty and gluggable.

Driven cork so i suspect that it is an unfiltered lbv - must look closely at label next time.

I had a look at the time but couldn't see the words unfiltered. With the tannins and the full cork I can only agree with your conclusion.

Do you know whether it bore the words "bottle matured"?

That would also suggest unfiltered, as i don't know why you'd bother with the expense of holding filtered stock in bottle for three years before selling!
