1980 Offley

Post by jdaw1 »

In anticipation of a forthcoming Croft tasting in The Bunghole, 57 High Holborn, London WC1V 6DT, we thought that it might be a good idea for three of us to test the location. The trial run grew to six people, and was held in the larger room. Links:

Stewed nose - cloudy - acrid - not good.

I guessed Ch 85.

O80. Oh dear. Smelt and tasted pleasant when decanted at 18:00, but by 18:45 horrible.

At this event my bottle wasn’t good.

Bottle stink on the nose. Nice in mouth once one gets beyond that: soft gentle fruit. Reasonable complexity. A fine Port but regrettably a flawed bottle.
