NV Taylor Tawny 10YO (bottled 1976)

Post by DRT »

An emergency decant of something that didn't need more time in the cellar.

Short, driven cork branded "Taylor's Oporto".

Very pale but rich-coloured amber - 10% opaque. Looks a lot like whisky or brandy rather than port. Smelling worryingly of soap.

Mid weight smooth entry. A little heat in the mid-palate and very viscous in the mouth. Quite pleasant to drink, like most of these over-aged bottles tend to be, but lacking intensity and leaving an overall impression of being tired. These bottles turn up quite frequently and are usually cheap to buy. I think they are a good option for those who want a very mature glass of Port at an exceptionally low price and I will certainly buy more like this if I find them.
