1963 Sandeman

Postby jdaw1 » 18:51 Thu 03 May 2012

On Wednesday 2nd May 2012 Johnny Symington joined some regulars at The Bung Hole†, partly to show off the Graham 1952 Single Harvest Tawny. All this after a day spent at The Big Fortified Tasting.

† We are boycotting the corporately anodyne new name. Really, what snorey-dull person did that?

S63, brought by RAYC. Red-brown, 40% opaque. Heat, then strawberry. Mid-weight. I thought somewhat burnt.

Mature red colour with a light core and an orange rim. Slightly smelly on the nose, with a bit of bottle stink. Bland entry, surprisingly neutral. Lots of tannin but little fruit on the palate, with some of the stink coming through on the flavours. Hot aftertaste, with a dry and tannic finish. Not showing this wine at its best. 86/100.
