1999 Dow Bomfim

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red in colour; opaque. Lovely fruity nose, full of concentrated blackcurrant. Silky texture, but little immediate fruit. The mid-palate brings all the fruit to the fore; huge amounts of sweet blackcurrant and dark chocolate. A bit of a burn on the aftertaste, then a dry black chocolate finish of good length. The tannins are very gentle and the port is full flavoured and extremely approachable now. 86/100. Drunk 12 May 2012 without decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
