2009 Niepoort

2009 Niepoort cask sample
Half bottle, served chilled from the fridge. Deep purple-black, absolutely opaque. Lovely nose of blackcurrant and fresh orange. Huge, sweet and juicy fruit all over the palate; gentle and soft tannins. Lovely depth to the mid-palate with a delicious herb overtone. Lingering cherry and chocolate aftertaste and long finish. Perfect drinking for someone who enjoys youthful and exuberant port. Delicious. 90/100. Drunk 27 May 2012 with no decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
