Straight after decanting it tasted of stewed plums with a quite harsh spirit burn; rather disapointing, so I left it alone for a couple of hours. On return the spirit had begun to integrate & it was much smoother.

The next day it was better still with the fruit coming through more and background flavours of cinamon and tobacco, the spirit is still there but smooth and nicely balanced.

A lovely port, but I think I prefer the '77 based on this example.
