2000 Krohn Colheita (bottled 2011)
Posted: 23:12 Tue 12 Jun 2012
Bottled in 2011, with a shortish cork that is, surprisingly unbranded.
Reasonably deep colour for a 11-year-old colheita. Lightish burgundy in the middle, fading to an orange rim.
At 2+ hours, this is quite muted on the nose (though a cold could be contributing). In the mouth, I immediately gets lots of milk chocolate. Not much primary fruit is obvious, though the acidity might bring out a little orange. The mouth-feel is rather cloyingly sweet on the back of the throat, a bit like a packed of instant hot-chocolate that has been made with too little water. The mid-palate is very subtle but it is followed a little while afterwards by a nice tawny aftertaste that is reasonably long.
I’m hoping this will continue to evolve in the decanter. At the moment it is fine but rather unexciting.
