1963 Casa do Douro White Colheita (bottled 2004)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2004. Lagrima style. Some grainy sediment, pale amber in colour with a green rim; 10% opaque. Slight VA on the nose, bringing butterscotch angel delight. Sweet, but with a strong and ripe acidity. Full bodied, with concentrated kumquat flavour. Brown sugar on the aftertaste, and a long sugary finish. Better than expected, but very sweet. 82/100. 11-Jun-12. Pop 'n' pour
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

JDAW has provided me with an alternative wording for his note, as follows:

Lagrima white colheita Casa do Douro 1963: orange, 20% opaque. Nosing of marmalade; tasting of same preceded by brandy. One taster suggested that it was like the Quady windery orange muscat.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
