G27: dark red, 40% opaque, faint brown at rim. Nose had dark cherry, and a little heat. Taste starts with big mocha, then heat and chocolate, then christmas-cake spice. Clean acidity showing. Tastes much younger than ’27: could have been ’55 or ’58. Others observed ‟molasses”. Very impressive. JDAW.

Deep red core, gold on the rim. Really dark in colour; 80% opaque. Full and rich on the nose, mature, with espresso and nutmeg infused black cherries - and a bit of heat. Rich, immense palate; intense fruit and wonderful Christmas cake - incredible layers of flavour and complexity. Massive aftertaste, huge flavours and an intense espresso and cherry finish. Long and lingering. This an immense and astonishing port with stunning depth and complexity. 99/100. 12-Jun-12. Pop 'n' pour.
