1912 Real Vinicola Colheita

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

RO12: cloudy orange, 20% opaque. Very tawny nose. Taste not good: sharp heat, very hot, then fades fast. Not my favourite 1912. JDAW.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

A colheita, but no bottling date given. Cloudy, light brown with a barley coloured rim. Gentle colheita nose, quite restrained, not much showing. Sweet impact on the palate, then powerful burning acidity. Little shows on the palate, just a bit of subdued honey and lemon. Hot - unpleasantly hot - and fairly short finish. Not great, especially not in a 1912 horizontal! 84/100. 14-Jun-12. Pop 'n' pour.
