A bottle from a case owned by JDAW, and which has shown consistently well. English bottled, unknown bottler. Mature coloured core, pale rose on the rim. Spicy mace and and mature red fruit on the nose, but with heat dominating after a swirl. Lovely soft texture, but a contrasting harsh - even aggressive - fierceness on the mid-palate. This takes a long time to settle down, but when it does it is full-flavoured, driven by the sweet fruit that eventually provides a very pleasant mouthful. Cedar wood dominated finish, with bitter rosehips that fades to a concentrated black chocolate. A very fine bottle of this port. 92/100. 15-Jun-12. Decanted 3 hours.
