1968 Fonseca Guimaraens

Post by jdaw1 »

On the Wednesday before the 2012 Olympics we were guests of His Excellency Dr João de Vallera, the Portuguese Ambassador to the Court of St James, at his official residence, wherein we had two bottles of Port from each summer-Olympic year, 1948 to 2008.

RHS bottle (THRA, RAYC, jdaw1): duff NR
LHS bottle (WS1, OQ, DRT): much more fragrant, cleaner, good port (from a taste of OQ's wine)

FG68 (mine): perfect red, 60% opaque. Nosing of leather and tobacco and must. But taste not good, dominated by heat.

FG68 (other): heat, and rich sweetness. Good length, with plums. Much the superior bottle.
