1984 Warre Cavadinha

Post by jdaw1 »

On the Wednesday before the 2012 Olympics we were guests of His Excellency Dr João de Vallera, the Portuguese Ambassador to the Court of St James, at his official residence, wherein we had two bottles of Port from each summer-Olympic year, 1948 to 2008.

Sweet, lovely syrupy texture, delicate cerise with pleasant medicinality (cherry drops? tizer?), good acidity to balance sweetness, not a profound port but lovely current drinking - i'd have this in my cellar! *** (89-90)

WC84 (mine): bright red, 40% opaque. Nose mostly faint, with cedar. Taste is Tizer! Also heat, and slightly pétillant. Light, pleasant, very drinkable. Not complicated. Drink up. THRA commented on ‟spice and pepper”. I might agree with the pepper.
