1974 Kopke Colheita (bottled 2012)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2012. Pale brown straw in colour, with a yellow / green rim. Lovely and expressive on the nose, full of butterscotch. Showing sweet tangerines on entry, with a nicely balanced but acidic entry, presence builds well on the palate. There is an acidic attack on the back of the throat when swallowing, then a long and dry butterscotch finish which slowly changes into a dry tangerine taste. Served blind, I guessed this to be a Quevedo 20 year old tawny. 83/100. Drunk 04-Sep-12.

K74c, bott 2012. Orange, 20% opaque, with a very faint hint of green at the edge. Taste was smoother than the 10-year, but just ‟as dilute”, I wrote.
