Burnt orange in colour, having put on a lot of colour in the decanter; 20% opaque. Smokey burnt toffee on the nose, the alcohol showing through slightly. Surprisingly flavoursome on the palate. Sweet and quite thick in texture - a delicious texture - full of burnt orange and with a very pleasant core of acidity. Slight heat on the aftertaste, then a long and powerful marmalade finish that is just stupendous. The pale colour in the bottle promised very little - but the flavours delivered on the palate are fabulous. This is delicious, perfectly mature port. 92/100. Drunk 16-Sep-12. Decanted 3½ hours.
