1981 Warre Unfiltered LBV
Decanted six hours.

30% opaque. Still some red but starting to brown. Sweet cherry and toffee on the nose. Medium weight and extremely smooth. Fully mature with dried fruits, more toffee and some dark chocolate on the entry and mid-palate. Long, sweet and mouthwatering finish with some strawberry jam at the end.

Probably slightly past its ideal drinking window but still a very nice glass of Port.

WARNING: Once opened, this Port seems to evaporate at an alarming rate!

I'm now starting to suspect that the fill was two inches below low shoulder, which I clearly didn't notice because of the very dark glass

Where did you manage to find such a gem?

I went to bed one night and the elves left six bottles at the foot of my bed after they had finished making me some new shoes.

I opened a bottle of this tonight since I saw this note...here's my TN on it.
1981 Warre's LBV Port
My last bottle. Fully mature, if not a touch past best, yet still has a nice soft semi-sweetness with a lot of spearmint and licorice. A touch of heat on the back end with more menthol than spearmint. A soft medium length finish with silky dried red fruit. An enjoyable bottle, but one that has shown more heat as it decants. A bottle to drink sooner rather than later and pop-n-pour while enjoying over a couple hours is probably best.
