Re: 1963 Fonseca
Bottled by Avery's. Firm red colour, with a firm rim; 70% opaque. Fragrant and expressive nose, with generous levels of nutmeg and mace illuminating the cranberry fruit. Surprisingly dry tannins show on entry, initial impact full of sweet and concentrated fruit, but there is an unexpected hollow spot on the mid- to late-palate...could this possibly be in need of more time? Shows much promise. Lovely texture and flavours concentrate all over the late-palate. Long, with big flavours on the finish. Delicious and lovely, but not yet at its peak. 93/100. Decanted 6 hours
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

F63, decanted 13:00. Dark red, 50% opaque. Nose slightly closed, with red cherry and plum. Palate had big red fruit, including dark cherry. Not fully mature. Massive aftertaste. Superbly long. Excellent.
