Drunk with WS1 @home on 05.10.12

Slightly spiritous brandy nose, but nice lychee fruits. Overall attractive

Impressive colour: darkness of a Symington 83/85, but transparency at rim might give it away in a blind tasting (yeah - right!)

Round and smooth, very chocolatey, a bit of dark cherries with a hint of aniseed late palate

Nicely flavoured finish but would be slightly thin and short for a VP - not particularly substantial. WS1: "too much like a hand through a spiderweb".

Nevertheless, obviously well stored and perfectly mature. Very good QPR. Very nice port, perfect casual drinking and exceeds expectations for £21,50.

RAYC: *** (88 pts)

A tasting note of a different bottle from the same batch can be read here.

Mine was perfectly good, but yours sounded like it showed a lot better!

However, I was drinking mine alongside a phenomenal bottle of Sandeman 70, rather than thinking of comparisons with weak 79 VP. So perhaps it would have shone more by itself - i always find this hard to tell.

Anyway, i have one left, so fingers crossed! I'll give it a proper decant next time as well.
