Obvious suspects gathered in The Bung Hole, theoretically to quality-assure Tom’s new case of 1958 Delaforce, but really for good company and ports.

CR70. Dark red, 70% opaque. Nose closed, with a hint of orange. Lighter than the full blend. Still, a similar lovely flavour. Very peppery. A hint shorter as well as lighter.

Slightly darker than the Croft 1970 shown alongside; 50% opaque with a deep red core. Pronounced on the nose, deep and rich, smelling like a healthy compost heap. Flavourless entry, with gentle tannins supporting the texture and sweetness and flavours of golden treacle. Lovely long aftertaste, full of dry chocolate. This promises much from the nose, but does not deliver that promise on the palate. 85/100.
