2007 Sandeman LBV

Post by RAYC »

Worth a go is my advice - even at full price in Waitrose (£15), i would have no hesitation buying again if i needed a quick bottle. I now have a couple in my wine fridge.

Driven cork (so i presume unfiltered), very attractive in a primary way, not sure about its ageing potential but it is a very decent quaffer right now if you're after a brambly, fruity, robust LBV. Half bottle drank on pop and pour basis, half bottle drank at +24 hrs - slightly better after the decant.

Jammy berry nose with a touch of mint, packs a punch on the palate and has an attractive amarena cherry / kirschy bitterness, with nice heathery/lavendar/ainseed flavours showing through at end. Quite strong acidity. Chalky dry finish that prompts you into taking another sip. Impressive LBV. Given the price, this was a solid 90 pointer i thought.
