1979 Warre LBV (unfiltered)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From the same batch as this bottle.

Bottled 1984, bottle matured. Very youthful colour, rich red; 90% opaque. Restrained on the nose, some sweet floral tones and sweet red fruit. Exquisite balance on the palate, rich and flavoursome fruit, perfect acidity and chocolatey tannins. Lovely depth and richness of flavour and great development. A huge mouthful that just explodes with flavour on the aftertaste and very long, mouth-watering finish. This is amazing port, incredible quality when you compare this with single quinta vintage port made from grapes of the same vintage - this is just so much better than any 1979 vintage port that I have had. 92/100. Drunk 05-Nov-12. Decanted 24 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
