On Thursday 13th December 2012 a subset of the obvious suspects gathered at the Bell, Wendens Ambo CB11 4JY, to taste some treasures.

Ex-cellars bottle. Very brown and cloudy, opaque because of the cloudiness, but with a pinking rim. Masses of spearmint on the nose, with a lovely chocolate orange behind. Lovely focus on the palate, delightful acidity balancing the chocolate and with a huge palate presence. Big and wonderful finish that lasts ages — a finish of pure dark chocolate. Great port. 95/100

Orangebrown colour, slightly dusty due to travel on this day. Lots of herbs, some vanilla and minti notes, green tea on the nose. The palate shows tea, marcipan, chocolate and orange peel, very integrated and long. Very long finish, mostly dominated by the herbs and chocolate. Very well matured Vintage Port. 18+

RP31. Cloudy orange. Minty nose. Taste thin, with mint giving a freshness. Not big, but long.

Light-medium colour, light but fresh taste, hint of mint, very nice.
Rating: Very good.
