2010 Quinta do Vesuvio vintage port
Bottle 2366 has been opened. Deep purple on the rim, opaque in the centre. Luscious, sweet blackcurrant and bramble on the nose, with a sharp lemon juice twist. Slow to show on entry, then a wave of dry and pronounced tannin coats the teeth and inside of the cheeks. This slowly fades away, allowing deeply flavoured and ripe fruit through to dominate the mid- and late palate. Big levels of blackcurrant acidity lurk under the fruit, giving a great balance and structure. Lots of lavender and other floral perfumes on the aftertaste; an aftertaste which slowly changes into a dark chocolate and bitter blackcurrant finish of tremendous length. Very, very good port. 93/100. 24-Dec-12. Decanted 30 hours.
