Curious to see how this does at 30 years.

Popped and poured (but feels like I shoudl have given it a 3-5 hour decant)

Nose of condensed milk, bitter cocoa powder blended with some strawberry jam and some baking spices.

The mouthfeel follows through with the nose showing off a spirity and an apparent sweetness. The spirits lends to a spicy finish that lingers and warms you up.

88 pts.

Will have to retaste tonight after everything has meld better and the spirits blow off.

Lovely strawberry jam with anise and baking spices with some buttered orange marmalade that sneaks up on you!

Medium bodied mouthfeel that's sweet has some root spices, freshly shaved ginger that melds with freshly juiced strawberries finishing with a sweet milk chocolate coffee finish.

A very interesting note. The F83 has a reputation as a poor cousin in the Fonseca family - a bit like T85 did 2-3 years ago.

I wonder if the F83 has now pulled itself together and is starting to show the way we all hope and expect mature Fonseca to show. I have one bottle in my cellar, which I plan to open later in the year.

Yea, I think if i had waited 3-5 hours of open air decant I probably would have been more impressed from the get go.
