1983 Warre

Post by JWH »

My first VP opened to celebrate the passing of my 30th year. Also my first tasting note so please bear this in mind :)

After peeling back the foil the top of the cork almost looked a bit mouldy and smelt a bit smoky!? Had me a little worried but didn't seem to have affected the wine. Cork was very soft and came out in quite a number of pieces.

Decanted for 5 hours.

Red, mainly opaque. Initially quite fiery but this seemed to blow off quite quickly. Sweet, concentrated berry fruit in the mouth with not much tannin obvious. Very long and intense (compared to what I'm used to anyways!). Enjoyed by my wife and I over 3 hours.

Thanks for the note. This is a port that I enjoyed in the past.
