The Taylor 1948 has an uneven bottom, so does not stand vertically.

T48: red, 30% opaque. Nose had meat and leather. Taste smooth velvet. Wonderful mouthfeel. Slightly more than mid-weight, some heat late palate, then long smooth velvet again. This T48 was my WOTN. (Others considered included T20, T63, T45, T24, T66 and T35.)

Clear rim, lovely rust red going towards a see-through burgundy red/brown core. Glorious nose which is full of raisin, prunes and caramel followed by warm alcohol. Great silky mouthfeel. Bit of a blockbuster but perfectly balanced and with a very good amount of rich dried fruit. Aftertaste is very long. My wine of the night. 96 pts.

Orange brown, surprisingly light; 15% opaque. Restrained nose, not revealing much other than a little spiciness. Lovely texture; lots of dustiness on the palate from the deep red fruit. A delightful spiciness comes through on the mid-palate. Lots of black chocolate on the initial aftertaste before a massive finish dominated by the fruit. What an amazing port. 95/100. 22-Mar-13. Decanted 2½ hours.
