1948 Taylor vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

T48: dark red, 70% opaque. Big dark plum fruit. Hot. Good port, but junior to the N27, even on its second day. JDAW, January 2013

Brown in colour, with just a hint of redness. Mature on the nose, lovely of oopen. Sweet fruit, lots of honeyed raspberries. Fierce underlying acidity and a port which slowly thickens in the mouth. Quite aggressive palate and aftertaste but then a long and peppery finish. Enjoyable, but very aggressive. 89/100. 10 hour decant.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
