1966 Niepoort vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Ni66: very dark red, 60% opaque (albeit in bad lighting). Big mid-sweetness dark plum taste. Lot soy heat mid-palate. Big and very long. top-class port. JDAW, January 2013

Mature red, lovely colour with a slight orange rim; 50% opaque. Spirity on the nose, with a little restrained fruit. Concentrated sweetness on the palate, spicy and lively with the spiciness slowly fading to leave a candied orange or orange crepe suzette. Delicious aftertaste, long concentrated finish of sweet orange reduction. This is weak on the nose but has a lovely palate and finish. Very nice port. 91/100. 10 hour decant.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
