T83. Red, 40% opaque. Nose of red cherry. Taste very strong heat, and quite dry. Big, but for my taste overwhelmed by the heat.

Only very slightly paler than the 85 (85: only slightly darker than the 83...)

Big on the nose - lovely caramel tones.

Very big in the mouth - not very fruity, especially, but chunky, quite chewy, toffee.

Imperial College stock. Mature red appearance, lighter than the T85 shown alongside; 50% opaque. Sweet and mature nose, with some resin tones; quite restrained but very fine. Light bodied texture, thin but flavoursome mid-palate with plenty of structural tannins that are soft and well integrated. Soft fruit, very sweet and with an interesting dusting of mace. Dry aftertaste, then a soft and dry finish with some birch sap and black chocolate of very long length. Lighter than the T85, but very enjoyable. 86/100. 02-Apr-13. Decanted 7½ hours.
