G85. Red, 40% opaque. Nose of red cherries, and very clean. taste rich red fruit, probably red grapes. Much velvetier than the G83. Good length. Liked.

Ready for drinking. Those hoarding many dozens of G85 made good purchase decisions, but should now start to use the stash for its original purpose.

This was lighter than the 83, peculiarly. A good clean nose. Really quite wonderful in the mouth - very soft, yet powerful - but it seemed to diminish early. Dryness on the cheeks, some heat.

Similar in colour to the G83 alongside, perhaps slightly less orange; 70% opaque. Attractive nose, fresh with a touch of sea-spray. Initially reluctant to show anything on the palate but this reluctance quickly dissolves to show a well balanced, fruit forward, sweet and pleasant port with good presence and balance. Delicious aftertaste and finish. Sweet and very fine, this is a very good port for current drinking and will last well for a couple more decades. 91/100. 02-Apr-13. Decanted 8 hours.
