W85. Red, 50% opaque. Nose had lovely plums, with a velvet texture. Taste large always good. Red fruit. But also for me a bitterness mid-palate, that I thought mocha of dark chocolate. Everybody else disagreed with this description. But fine juice, and second-placed for WOTN.

Quite a good bit darker than the 83 (which wasn't much of a comparison). A heady, blocky, fruity nose. Very red fruit on the mouth, full, round, exceptionally dry.

Deep red-mahogany with bricking on the rim; still 90% opaque. Somewhat closed nose with cigar ash and some slight VA. Balanced entry, some restraint but lovely development on the palate. Still youthful and with the same chalky tannins found in the 1983 alongside. Fine palate development and a great presence gives pleasurable drinking now and for a decade or two. The finish is of red licorice and is big and vigorous, long and sweet. Good port. 90/100. 02-Apr-13. Decanted 8½ hours.
