1991 Warre vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Mid-red colour, rosy rim, looking to be mature; 50% opaque. A little bottle stink on the nose, lots of stewed fruit under the cabbage. Sweet strawberry syrup on the palate, initially with a tobacco twist but this vanishes quickly to leave the strawberry jam and a bit of cabbage. Some acidity and pepper comes through on the mid-palate to balance the jamminess. The aftertaste is excellent - with balance, fruit and soft tannins to give a fine and elegant structure to the finish. 89/100. Drunk 07-Apr-13. Decanted 6 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
