NV Churchill Tawny 20YO

Post by RAYC »

Felt like some port tonight so put this in the fridge earlier. 500ml bottle, attractive label (stock image).

Redder colour than expected, with nose of surprisingly fresh red fruit and less volatility than i would usually i associate with 20s.

sweet profile but with good spiciness and complexity and well balanced by an attractive citric acidity that gradually builds from first taste. Gloriously smooth and long aftertaste which is both nutty and juicy at once

Very moreish and somewhat easier to glug than expected from a tawny- i'd chosen this on the assumption that it was one of the weaker bottles in my wine fridge but actually i think this is rather good.

Well deserving of a solid 90.
