An unknown shipper brought by Dirk Niepoort. The handwritten slip said "Porto 1907". Served chilled. Very light in colour, with a golden core and a green rim. Very old on the nose, oxidised and a touch maderised. Little showing initially on the palate, dry and slightly green tannins. Dried out on the palate, patience and air just reveals more alcohol. Grapefruit dominates the aftertaste with lots of ripe acidity. Very long, finishing with a flavour profile that really reminds me of curacao. This is a port that is way past its best but a wonderful opportunity to taste a wine from this rare vintage. Joao Nicolau de Almeida suggested that this could be a moscatelle wine and there was also speculation that it might have been a white port. 85/100. Drunk 23 April 2013.
