Half bottle from Tesco drunk on 10th May 2013 while writing nonsense.

Dark - about 90% - with a very narrow pink rim. A tannic sharpness in the nose - elderberry and violet, chewy before it's even been tasted, with minty stalkiness too, but not in an unpleasant way. In the mouth, a firm, blocky entrance, rather wonderful robustness, dense fruit, blackberries and black- and redcurrants. Then the tannins hit - these are wonderfully powerful. Slight pepperiness at the top of the tongue and the roof of the mouth. A slight chalkiness in the finish; some might find this unpleasant, but to me it feels of a part with the fruit characteristics - it almost tastes raisinish; was there a raisinised lote in this blend? The violets reappear in the finish too. This is really good stuff.
