A small group gathered at the Bung Hole for a blind tasting, DJ being in town for the evening. We were joined by two guests: AHB being able to join at the last minute, he was accompanied by Mrs B; DJ brought his friend Richard West.

The line-up of bottles was interesting: five were from the same year, three were the same wine and two were decanted from the same bottle.
Decanted at the Bung Hole
This was pale, red going to brown but very light - only about 20 - 30% opaque.
Still had some jamminess on the nose.
On the palate, thin at the start, a confectionery, jellyish middle, with only slight tannins at the end. Not a very long finish.

BN55, apparently a slight leaker. Red, 30% opaque. To taste bright red cherry. Light, and rather thin.

Mature rose colour, 40% opaque. Mature on the nose with sweet fruit and a lovely nutskin bitterness. Sweet entry, a little hollow and surprisingly dry but with late-palate brown sugar. The aftertaste is woody and full of green tannins. Served blind this was guessed to be Malvedos 1990! 85/100. Decanted 2 hours.
