A small group gathered at the Bung Hole for a blind tasting, DJ being in town for the evening. We were joined by two guests: AHB being able to join at the last minute, he was accompanied by Mrs B; DJ brought his friend Richard West.

The line-up of bottles was interesting: five were from the same year, three were the same wine and two were decanted from the same bottle.
Decanted at 11am.
Unfortunately I neglected to make notes on this, beyond the word 'leggy'.
Leggy.

NS00, decanted 11am. Red, 90% opaque. Nose a bit closed; tannins, plums, sweetness. Big and young. 1990s, I thought. A mite simple nudging the guess towards SQVP but sweet and luscious.

I suppose that ‘leggy’ can be luscious.

Opaque centre, thin transparent rim. Subdued on the nose, with a slight astringency. Sweet entry on the palate, with strawberry jam and gentle tannins. Good development on the palate. The aftertaste is lightweight but leads to a big, powerful finish that is sweet, fine and very long. Served blind, this was guessed to be Warre 1991. 91/100.
