A small group gathered at the Bung Hole for a blind tasting, DJ being in town for the evening. We were joined by two guests: AHB being able to join at the last minute, he was accompanied by Mrs B; DJ brought his friend Richard West.

The line-up of bottles was interesting: five were from the same year, three were the same wine and two were decanted from the same bottle.
Another wine I neglected to make a note of. Post left up for others more diligent.

Bought from Davy's of Holborn. Ruby red in colour, 80% opaque. At first subdued on the nose, showing just a touch of mature fruit and slightly harsh acidity. Initially soft and subdued on the palate but then a fierce mid-palate acidity explodes on the tongue bringing more mature fruit and a medium bodied presence. Suprising levels of slightly green tannins remain and give a youthful feel to the wine. There is a burst of alcohol on the aftertaste before a long, dry charcoal finish full of burnt raisins. A good showing of this port. 87/100. Decanted 1 hour.
