Eleven regulars gathered in a crowded Bung Hole to give Mr Doty a break from Wimbledon, in the form of a 1966 horizontal. It’s a hard life.

F66. Glorious red, 50% opaque. Taste unctuous, large, full and lovely, with red fruit. But not as big as an F66 can be. Beautifully balanced; very fine.

Fonseca
Flavors and aromas of milk choc, marmalade, nutmeg, clove, stewed rasp, and bl cherry. Very complex with fruit forwardness and floral aromas

The deepest of the 1966s at the tasting and the most youthful in appearance. Unique nose, soapy redcurrants - really surprising. Soft into the mouth, with the soapiness coming through on the palate and is a little offputting. Much more youthful then any others but the tannins are very gentle. Vigorous and vibrant finish of great length. The youngest of the wines on show and still neeeds more time. 89/100.
