Eleven regulars gathered in a crowded Bung Hole to give Mr Doty a break from Wimbledon, in the form of a 1966 horizontal. It’s a hard life.

S66. Brick red, 30% opaque. Nose rightly described by DRT as ‟dusty”. Rather dried out, RAYC adding ‟cranberry dryness”. Later it was still light, though better balanced. Drink up! Library stock only.

Woody, I thought. Many didn't like this but I didn't think it was entirely undrinkable.

Burnt sienna colour; 20% opaque. Burnt dust on the nose, showing slight cinammon and heat. Brown sugar entry, thin texture compared to the other wines at the '66 horizontal. Hot and spicy, but quite straightforward. Hot aftertaste, enjoyable licorice and green wood finish. Enjoyable, but weak compared to its peers. 82/100.
