2011 Fonseca

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Very subdued nose that comes with a minty or metallic undertone. Violets on the entry, accompanying sweet, ripe fruit; lovely texture with great fruit, tannins and acidity - the fruit coming with a lovely purity. Fruit driven aftertaste and a finish of dry, soft tannin. A complete port in an elegant style, very refined. Took a couple of days to get into its stride, but was well worth the wait. 92-94. Tasted over 1-4 days as part of the extended 2011 tasting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
