2011 Quinta da Romaneira

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A bit subdued on the nose, but with attractive, earthy redcurrant and cranberry. The redcurrants show on entry, concentrated and ripe. Early on the fruit shows some greeness, but this adds to the interest rather than detracts. Plenty of acidity and the reluctant tannins are round and relaxed. Sweet fruit and mild pepperiness on the sweet finish. Delightfully balanced. Possibly a little light? 90-92. Tasted over 1-4 days as part of the extended 2011 tasting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
