2011 Quinta do Vesuvio

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red colour, with a lighter rim. Herbaceous nose, less fruit and more nettles. Soft textured, velvet cushions; crushed nettles mixed with sweet bramble fruit. The tannins are hidden behind the fruit and the acidity is what grips. The finish is big, rich, full of sweet fruit and lasts for ages. 92-94. Snapshot tasting on 20 May 2013.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
