40% very old mixed vines, 37% Touriga Nacional, 23% Touriga Franca. Sourced from Quinta da Cavadinha (53%), Quinta do Retiro (28%) and Quinta da Telhada (19%).

Very dark, tiny transparent rim. Tobacco and chocolate on the sour cherry nose. Tannins grip quickly on entry, giving a dry edge to the fruit. Powerful palate presence, pretty impressive. The tannins dominate the aftertaste before releasing a bubble-gum sweetness that drives a long and powerful finish. Untypically tannic for a port from Warre, but only in a good way. 93-95. Pop 'n' pour. 4 Sep 2013.

And now, we ask, why have the Symingtons been pouring so much port into AHB's highly sensitive, carefully calibrated port-assessing device..? What was this event?

It was lunch time and I was thirsty. A kindly soul took pity on me and helped me to quench my thirst. I am feeling much better now, thank you for asking.
