Like the '72, this was not released as QdlR; at this point the grapes were sold to Sandeman. The port is made entirely from QdlR grapes however.

Colour is very light orange.

Nose is woody (pencils! - I had just been talking about the smell / taste of pencils in malt whisky. This almost smells of writing desk.) Hiding behind is a light, fresh menthol note.

In the mouth it reminds me of 1950s Crofts - Seville oranges predominate [I discovered from Tim Bergqvist that before QdlR sold to Sandeman, they used to sell to Crofts - in the 50s]. Has good tannins, once you wait - they grow, long in the finish. It is spiritous but only lightly, and is lovely in the mouth for a long time.
