2011 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

2,200 cases. Rich red colour, slight purple hint with a medium transparent rim. Fresh nose of crushed blueberries and blackcurrant mixed with a ripe herbaceous crushed nettle, astringent rather than sweet. Fruit led entry with powerful acidity and a generous perfume on the palate. Strong fruit tones to the acidity; the tannins soft and could have been extracted from blackcurrant skins. Gently aromatic on the aftertaste with a soft birch-sap leading to a long finish of sweet black cherries. Attractive and very elegant in style. 91-93/100. Drunk 16-Sep-13
