With Andy Velebil visiting from California, it would have been rude not to. So we did, in The Bung Hole, on Tuesday 8th October 2013.

F77. red, 50% opaque. Plums. Big-fruited port. Big. An excellent example of an excellent port. If being picky I could note a little astringency mid-palate, but that would be picky. My second place, behind W70, but most people’s first place.

Also observe error on the placemats:

There was a conflict of dates between the Title ‟(F77)” and the Circlearray ‟[ (Fonseca) (1970) (CPR) ]”. Oops: both should have been !77.

Deep red in colour, rich and youthful; 70% opaque. Big on the nose, with lots of attractive fruit. Very fine, very rich. Wonderful entry, rich and full bodied; masses of fruit and still full of noticeable tannins. Rich fruit, big Dundee fruit cake and Cherry Genoa on the huge long finish. Really fabulous port. 95/100.
