We held our second 'Port of Belfast' event in a room at the Lyric Theatre. We were very pleased to be able to host a tutored tasting of Niepoort wines and ports with Nick Delaforce.

Ni01C. Red-red-brown, 40% opaque. Nose not noted, but palate had heat and lots of red berries behind that. Lovely well made wine. Its youth had retained various ruby features.

In colour perhaps like a 20YO, beginning to show real oxidisation in its colour, the red hues beginning to fade into brown. In the nose, dried fruit. Complexity in the mouth: yes, smooth sweetness - treacle and butter, with fruitiness - but also some orangey acidity and bitterness. Very fresh.
